About the figures
- Every figure here is FAOSTAT’s, as it publishes it: the harvest of apples (its item 515), in tonnes, by country and year since 19611. FAOSTAT revises the two most recent years each year, so the latest figures may still change2.
- Where a country does not report its harvest, FAOSTAT estimates or imputes one, and the tables mark those figures with an asterisk1. For 2024, FAOSTAT imputed 52% of its figures for primary crop and livestock products as a whole2.
- Since 2018 FAOSTAT has taken most production figures for the member countries of the European Union from Eurostat2.
- China’s figures are those for the mainland; FAOSTAT counts Taiwan separately1.
- The world total is FAOSTAT’s own. It includes countries that no longer exist, such as the USSR and Czechoslovakia, which have no page here; the figures for the countries that followed them begin in 1992 and 19931.
- FAOSTAT notes that Iraq’s figures leave out the Kurdistan region; that France’s have included French Guiana, Martinique, Guadeloupe and Réunion since 2007; that the figures reported by the Russian Federation include Crimea and Sevastopol; and that those reported by Ukraine leave out Crimea, Sevastopol and parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions2.
