Forge
The record of the National Fruit Collection, at Brogdale in Kent, describes it1:
Said to have originated at a Forge Farm in Sussex or near one of the old forges in the iron district near East Grinstead, Sussex. It was described in 1851 when it was already well known. Fruits have crisp, very juicy flesh with a pleasant aromatic flavour.
